Aaron Huey’s effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson in this bold, courageous talk. (Filmed at TEDxDU.)

  1. Thank you. I worked as a public health nurse for 10 years on a Montana reservation…my heart understands…I will be forever ashamed at what my relations did. Thank you again

  2. I am interested in how much it costs to go to the lakota retreat, we have witnessed enough and it is time to change life for the Lakota as a part of America. I would like to be a part of the retreat to make a difference for them and change popular indifference.
