Secular Practice into a modern world
Tell us a bit about how your group was concieved
The name of this group comes from the drawings (a lion) on the tiles of the meditation room and from the fact that we "cook" our practice with the available ingredients: the group welcomes people of various Buddhist and non-Buddhist traditions.
How many members do you serve? 20

How do the Three Tenets inform your social engagement?
We try to apply the 3 tenets in every area of our lives. During the formal practice, when we gather as a group, as in daily life. Some of us are engaged individually in voluntary work, or in the field of personal care from a psychological point of view. Also part of the group are artists, writers, journalists, publishers who try to bring these principles and spread them with their work. Some also belong to Buddhist organizations that support social projects in prisons or in favour of the most fragile people in society. We try, in fact, to work as a hub, a larger network of connection between various subjects on the Italian territory.
What is the most meaningful challenge your organization Faces?
The biggest challenge is to address the dynamics of a profit-based society and to introduce elements of awareness and commitment. Also, for example, on the issue of the climate emergency and the role that communities can play in this field.
