The founders, Adam and Miriam joined together in a fascination about how council practice interacted with community and work life. They started an experiment at The Ojai Foundation as co-executive directors to look at both structures and cultural backbone that was conducive to the mission of the Ojai Foundation coming alive not just in the programs it ran but also in the life of the organization itself. In those experiment they were surprised by the healing that took place and the engagement and connection and learning that ensued. They also learnt more about how power, authority and hierarchy work in circles. From there they founded We are Open Circle, and over the past year have evolved what they have learnt into a systematic way of working with circle, power, hierarchy, conflict and emergence in organizations and communities.
