Helen Tworkov is the founding editor of Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, the first and only independent Buddhist magazine; the author of Zen in America: Profiles of Five Teachers; and the co-author, with Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, of In Love with the World: A Monk’s Journey Through the Bardos of Living and Dying. She first encountered Buddhism in Japan and Nepal during the 1960s, and has studied in both the Zen and Tibetan traditions. She began studying with Mingyur Rinpoche in 2006 and currently divides most of her time between New York and Nova Scotia.
T. Marie King co-produced and released her first full-length documentary. The documentary highlights the life and legacy of the unsung hero and civil rights icon, the Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth. Premiering on Alabama Public Television the documentary stands as a testament to her dedication to sharing stories of historical significance.
Jennifer Dohrn, CNM, DNP, FAAN is a Professor and Assistant Dean of the Office of Global Initiatives and director of the PAHO/WHO Collaborating Center for Advanced Practice Nursing at Columbia University School of Nursing. She has served communities locally and globally. As Director of Midwifery Services, she initiated the first freestanding maternity center in an inner city in the United States in the Bronx, New York. She has worked in Sub-Saharan African countries since 2003, helping to expand the role of nurses and midwives in primary and HIV care.
Judith Simmer Brown is a founding faculty member at Naropa University, one of the first fully accredited Buddhist-inspired universities in the U.S, and has served as an Acharya, senior dharma teacher, in Shambhala International. She is active in academic and dharmic circles in many collaborative projects, and is a popular lecturer, retreat teacher, and frequent author of books, chapters, and articles.
