ZPI SHORTS Conflict in Israel-Palestine Part2: There is always hope for peace in the Holy Land
- Subject: Peacemaker Short, Peacemaking, Politics
There has been a long history of wars and occupation, hostility and horror, aggression and vengeance, bloodshed and bereavement—in the land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan river, the Holy Land, Palestine, and Israel. Activists in the civic society, the grassroots of Palestinians and Israelis, are making their own efforts to advance reconciliation based on building bridges of trust between the two peoples. However, confronting challenges and reality, we are faced with the recurrent, painful question: Is there hope for peace for all of us? During the last incident between Israel and Gaza which took place a few months ago, we held a Member Circle, in which Iris and Tani Katz were sharing their emotions and thoughts as Israelis. As a follow-up to that conversation, Dr. Iris Dotan Katz has invited five of her colleagues, a panel of peace activists from different groups in the region, to share their feelings and ideas about their hope for peace.
We are a worldwide movement of Peacemakers who practice meditation, embody the Three Tenets of the Zen Peacemakers (Not Knowing, Bearing Witness, Taking Action), live an ethical life, and do social action as a path of awakening and service. We seek to connect, inspire, support, train, and mobilize Zen Peacemakers throughout the world.
