The Receptivity of Bearing Witness & How we Rekindle it after Shutting Down
- Presenter: Ellen Korman Mains
- Subject: Bearing Witness, Mental Health, Peacemaker Circle, Practice
As Peacemakers or Buddhists, we face the challenge of dropping our fixed ideas and opinions in order to meet difficult situations freshly, with open hearts. Meanwhile, the world keeps hitting us with louder displays of brutality, dehumanization, and disregard for life, including the systems that protect it. How can we alleviate our desperation and connect with our deeper heart-mind that remains open, pliable, and receptive? Our relationship to our own discomfort becomes very intimate at this point, a theme which runs through, Buried Rivers: A Spiritual Journey into the Holocaust and which we’ll explore together.
Our mission is to realize our oneness and relieve suffering through contemplative social action.
